The Devil’s Whispers by Lucas Hault is a recent work of gothic horror, it's paying homage to the classics. Lucas Hault is an Indian Novelist specializing in dark fantasy and horror. This book is a retelling of the old story.
In The Devil’s Whispers, the creature is not a vampire, but something new like a monster. Lucas Hault delivers a unique story in epistolary writing composed of several first-person narratives in letters, telegrams, and journal entries. Although the prose used by each character is similar, their individual qualities are well developed.
The story is mainly related to the cast- Gerard Woodward and Reayln. There are many more other casts also their names are- Xana, Jayda, Father Malcolm Isaac Simpson, etc. Gerard Woodward, a British lawyer, travels to the countryside castle in 1903 to update a dying man’s last testament. Gerard soon realizes that his bedroom door is locked from the outside. Gerard’s fiancé, Reayln awaits his return but can feel dread overcoming her.

Some lines picked by me:
February 26th: "I slept heartily and now my body feels relieved. I see departing rays of sunlight outside my window, and the approach of evening strikes me with exasperation, for never in my entire life have I slept so profoundly. Rising at such a time of day makes me feel as if I have been resurrected to face the day of judgment."
" I’m writing. I love to write, but at this moment I’m afraid. At this moment, my writing is not out of passion, but because of the terror and anxiety that this place has unleashed upon me. There is a horrible stillness that stifles this place, and it makes me feel like I’m the only individual alive. "
"I rose to my feet and opened the door. It was a beautiful night. Stars twinkled in the sky, surrounding the moon like the subjects of an empire assembling before their queen. A cool breeze swept the land. I inhaled a long breath to ignite the fire of courage in my heart, and without wasting a moment further, snuck away towards the south, where I again heard the whisper. The town veiled its florid charm and lay comparatively empty of passage."
"I’m in tears and cursing my actions. I need to apologize. I must. I shall do it once she returns. She deserves it. I love her. "
And Last Line:
"All bad memories shall fade in time."
The author creates an ending that reminds us of a horror movie with so many evil beings. I enjoy this book reading, it indeed serves as a respectful homage and an induction point to those unfamiliar with classical literature. I recommend this novel to those who love to read classic horror and letters because this novel has lots of letters.
