The Wandering Star

The Wandering Star by S.P. Mittson is the first book in the fantasy series called "The Shifter's Trance."

Eloise Valerie Hector and Kayden Parsons are the main characters. Eloise Hector is the princess of Murkwood, she was born with a mysterious glitch in her powers. When her mother dies in an accident, Eloise loses control over her abilities and unintentionally, she shifts her friends to Shadowland, a moonless realm filled with hallucinations and lurking shadows. She was clueless about how to rescue them so Eloise allied with Kayden.

Kayden Parsons is from the Shadowland and he hides his true intentions and identity that he was once a Forsaken himself, but he defected to help Eloise.

The novel combines magical abilities, parallel realms, and adventure. I like the Sparks between Eloise and Kayden. It has an open-ended thread where some questions are answered, others remain open. Eloise wonders about her mother's accident, the origins of the Forsaken, and the true purpose of her powers.

Overall, "The Wandering Star" leaves readers satisfied yet eager for the next installment in the series. Love the cover and simple narrative of the book. I would love to rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
