Gloom and Bloom

Book Name: Gloom And Bloom
Author: Mansi Dodia
Genre: Contemporary poetry
Rating: 4.5/5

Book Review: Mansi Dodia's poetry book titled "Gloom and Bloom" is a powerful emotional voyage that embraces depression and hope. It shows how good poetry can convey or help deal with complex feelings. Dodia's verses convey her experience with depression in its rawest form.

Every poem represents a gunny bag of blood mingled with love. They range across multiple themes such as love, life, etc. In this book beautiful and strong moments have been conveyed successfully by the writer.

This set of books stands out because they can shine during dark days because of its simple yet evocative lines and the "Gloom and Bloom" title says it all, indicating that one can flourish at any moment, no matter what kind of misery there might be.

Mansi Dodia's writing pattern is very moving and thought-propagated. It employs ordinary but powerful vocabulary that captures complicated emotions with ease thus making her poems comprehendible and relatable. A combination of despondency and positivity is reflected in the tone of this book.

What I like about the book is the poems offered by the author are filled with a lot of emotions that are honest and true, thus making them so captivating. A good number of people might find some bits of this text simple as they parallel their own experiences in life. However, irrespective of all the dark themes found throughout the book there is still an underlying message of hopefulness and perseverance.

My most favourite poem from the book is "Pollen Path" and here are my favourite lines from the book :

"The destination is important,

But the journey is necessary."

For me, these lines are extremely meaningful. This is because the writer shows us that though the destination is our final aim or accomplishment that provides us guidance and meaning, but it is during the trip that one develops, acquires knowledge, and acquires experiences; hence it plays an important role in achieving that aim. Both elements interrelate so that what belongs to the trip increases its importance for the end point.

To sum up, "Gloom and Bloom" is a moving, provocative collection which jibes with poets’ songbirds who delve into intricate emotions. If you like both old and new poems, this book can be worth picking for your library. And because of its simplicity and the beautiful cover, I love to rate this book 4.5 stars out of 5 stars.

  1. A well-written review for a poetry book. Writing provides an outlet for emotions; when it is a poem, words are structured beautifully to form a pattern known as a rhyming scheme.
