In The Heart of The Night

In The Heart of The Night

In a quaint village the rolling hills and in the whispering forests there lived Aanya, a young woman. At night when everyone else was fast asleep, she would sit by her window looking up at the sky dotted with moonlight. The stars twinkled seemingly just for her and the air was filled with fragrance of blooming jasmine carried by soft winds.

Her heart was filled with memories of her beloved Arjun whose sweet moments made their conversations a blend of sweet-tangy and tangy-sweet experiences. Although he was far away from her, his words still lingered in the air wrapping around Aanya like a warm embrace.

On one occasion, Aanya sat near her window while closing her eyes letting memories take over her. She could hear Arjun laughing, see him smile and feel his warmth around her. The moon dance reflected on both joy and the shadows turned into dreams in her room.

In her mind’s eye she found herself in a magical garden where flowers glowed with an ethereal light. Secrets told by trees were whispered throughout the night as shimmering stars lined the path. As she walked along this path there was Arjun standing beside a clear pond whose eyes were full of love and desire.

“Aanya,” he said softly like music from afar, “I have been waiting for you.”

She ran towards him feeling great joy filling up inside of her. As soon as they embraced one another, a huge burden that had been weighing her down melted away from her body like ice on a warm summer day. Talking and laughing together, their voices harmonized with the music of the night. The moon and stars were witnesses to their reunion; they hovered above the garden in a dreamy light.

But as Aanya felt herself drifting further into unconsciousness after some time, she was aware that it was about time for her to return to a real world. Yet Arjun would always be a part of these moments for her – moments of solace and joy. She whispered to the night sky a promise that she would always remember their sour-sweet, sweet-sour conversations.

When she woke up; however, she found herself back in a room but there was still residue from that magical night. Moonlight kept dancing around her while stars sparkled reminding os that love remains unaffected by time or space apart. Dreamily sighing Aanya fell asleep filled with fantasies and recollections.
